Q-Ride Learner Guidelines
You will require the following:
Ø hold and produce a current learner licence (Class RE)
For R Class
Ø hold and produce a class RE provisional, probationary or open licence and declaration you have held this for at least 12 months
Duty of care/expected conduct of learner
DARTS Driver and Rider Training School at all times has the safety of it's learners as their number one priority. To this end, disobeying a direction will not be tolerated. Learners are advised to ensure they have available fresh drinking water and that a 30+ sunscreen be applied to any exposed skin prior to the commencement of training. Wherever possible, learners will be made aware of facilities (e.g. toilets).
Motorcycle riding can be fun but can also be dangerous if not treated in the appropriate manner. Learners are expected to at all times follow the direction of their trainer, this includes the necessity that the learner must be accompanied at all times by the Accredited Rider Trainer while being trained for Q-RIDE and to act in a manner of respect with regard to other road users and in accordance with the traffic laws. Learners are encouraged to ride in a defensive manner to the system of vehicle control. Any learner compromising the safety of themselves, the trainer or other learners will be asked to cease their training until such time as their behaviour can be guaranteed.

Training and Protection equipment
DARTS Driver and Rider Training School has available motorcycle's in both RE and R classes. The motorcycles are available for hire at $10 per hour should the learner require. Learners are required to wear pants that cover leg length, a long sleeve shirt of jacket designed to minimize abrasions, eye protection for motorcycle use, safety gloves designed for motorcycle use and fully enclosed shoes. The learner must also wear a motorcycle helmet that meets Australian Standard 1698 displaying the ASA sticker.
DARTS Driver and Rider Training School has available a selection of safety equipment for use by the learner if required.
All motorcycle owned by DARTS Driver and Rider Training School are fully insured. However should the learner be involved in an at fault accident, the basic excess of $1,200 will be the responsibility of the learner.
Refund Policy
DARTS Driver and Rider Training School adopts the following refund policy:-
$50 deposit is paid upon completion Form 006 Learner Application to Undertake Q-RIDE training.
Full payment for the selected course must be paid prior to training commencing.
If the learner is unable to make a session and they do not give at least 48 hours notice by phone directly to the trainer, they will lose their deposit. If the learner gives at least 48 hours notice they can either re-book or receive a refund of their deposit. Deposit refunds will be paid within one (1) week of the claim being agreed.
Should DARTS Driver and Rider Training School cancel a course, participants are entitled to a full refund of any monies paid or a transfer of funds to a future course at their discretion.
Full refunds or a re-book will be given due to illness upon the presentation of a medical certificate. Full refunds or a re-book will be granted should the learner experience extreme personal hardship.
Learners who do not complete the course must supply a medical certificate or prove extreme personal hardship to be granted a refund on a pro-rata basis. Balances may be used as a credit towards finishing the course at a later date.
Learners failing to arrive for a designated training session will forfeit any monies paid.
Learners seeking a refund due to a grievance with the rider trainer or the registered service provider for any reason, would have access to the company's grievance procedures.
Grievance policy
Grievance procedures are in place to promote resolution of grievances at a local level where appropriate, promote prompt resolution of grievances by discussion, negotiation, consultation and co-operation and to be accessible and equitable.
All disagreements between the learner and the trainer will in the first instance be attempted to be resolved promptly through discussion and negotiation.
If this attempt is unsuccessful, or the matter is such that a formal process needs to be entered into, the learner must put their grievance in writing to the registered service provider who will act upon this grievance within two (2) weeks. Deliberations will be impartial and objective, without any discrimination shown to a student for having lodged a grievance. Should it be necessary, outside arbitrator will be employed to assist in the resolution of formal grievances.
Access and equity
DARTS Driver and Rider Training School is an equal opportunity establishment. Discrimination of any learner will not be tolerated. The following principles will apply:

· Equality of outcome within training for all learners will occur without discrimination.
· Access will be provided for all people to appropriate, quality training programs and services.
· Respect to be shown for a person's culture, religious beliefs and ethnic background.
If a learner is unable to speak English, it is their responsibility to provide an interpreter. Health issues that could affect motorcycle riding (e.g. heart condition, epilepsy etc) must be declared and your Doctors approval must be obtained prior to commencement of training.
Learners are encouraged to advise their trainer of any special needs.
Objectives and Outcomes
Learners will be trained and assessed in line with the Q-RIDE Competency standards. These include:
Learners will be required to display specified skills and knowledge. Q-RIDE training and assessment is designed to improve your ability to survive on the road. You will learn smooth and controlled riding, coupled with sound observation skills. You will be shown how to adopt a defensive attitude allowing you to compensate for yoru own short comings and errors of other road users. You will attain a better understanding of road craft. At the completion of your training and upon attaining competency in all the Q-RIDE Standards, a declaration of competency will be issued.
